Landshut, Bavaria, Germany

March 8, 2015 ---- A day-trip from Munich to Landshut is simply fun. There is a train leaving Munich Hbf every 1/2 hour and it takes less than an hour to get to Landshut. From the train station, there is a bus running to the city center or Altstadt, but it runs less frequently on weekends. Nathan and I decided to walk from Landshut train station to Burg Trausnitz, which is on the hill, and it took about 45 minutes to reach the castle.

Attractions:  Landshut is a small town, so there isn't a ton to do there. The main attractions are

1. Altstadt:  One of the most impressive marketplaces in Bavaria. It's a good place for a stroll, window shopping, and relaxing at a cafe.

2. Burg Trausnitz:  Climb up to the castle and get the best view of the city! There's a 50-minute tour of the castle in German. Reservations can be made at the site.

3. St. Martin Church:  It's the tallest brick structure in the world.

4. Stadtresidenz:  There is a guided tour in German. If you don't understand, ask for an English text to read while walking with the tour.
