August 24, 2013 --- Jici Beach is a small black sand beach located on the east coast of Taiwan about an hour bus ride from Hualien City. Jici Beach is one of the few beaches that allow swimming, so expect a lot of people if you go on weekends. You have to pay about NT$ 100 for access to the beach and to use the showers and restrooms. I wasn't really impressed with the beach or anything here (Well, I'm from Thailand, and you know Thai beaches are gorgeous!), but if you really want to dip in the water, go for it. Nathan and I just spent our afternoon sitting at the wooden platform and reading and enjoying the breeze from the ocean. We didn't feel like swimming or anything, and because the rain clouds were hanging above, we decided to hop on the bus and get back to the city before dark.
