Dingmans Falls

September 7, 2012 ---- After hiking at Bushkill Falls, Nathan and I decided to visit Dingmans Falls, which is located about 20-30 minutes driving north from Bushkill Falls. I got driving directions from Google Map, but it was unreliable and we got lost a little. I also found on the park's website that the park's visitor center was closed for the 2012 season due to road damage from a storm the year before, so if we wanted to visit the park, we had to walk all the way from the park entrance to the falls, which is 3 miles round-trip.

Nathan and I got to the park entrance around 4:40 p.m., and we just parked right at the gate. There were a few cars there already, so we assumed that it was fine to walk past the gate to the park.

The road wasn't damaged as it said in the website, but the entire park was still closed. They might have already gotten it fixed, but I didn't see any sign of new construction. Well, at least it is flat and easy to walk to the falls.

There are two separate falls in the park. The first one is Silver Thread Falls , and it's a long, narrow waterfall. The second one is the main fall, called Dingmans Falls. They both are very impressive waterfalls. The water flowed strongly, and there is a boardwalk access both of them.

Nathan and I didn't spend time to climb up to the upper Dingmans Falls because it was getting dark and we were hungry and we still had about a mile and a half to walk back to the car, so we just left the park around 6 p.m.

Overall it is a nice park, and we were glad we did the hike in to the waterfalls. :-)
